Upturn

To my father at 70

The state wants to check that you’re still safe to drive
so you’re wise to take up gliding. Think of ageing
simply as travel with the extra dimension.

Pause long enough here at the biblical span
to upturn the hourglass, set the bonus years running.

Loop the loop. Think of the past
as the change from your pockets which falls to the grass
when you stand on your head in the park.
